About Nick Valby

With over 10 years of experience in real estate, mortgage lending, and renewable energy, Nick has a proven track record of managing complex projects and transactions, hiring and building effective teams, enhancing business operations, and utilizing financial modeling, data analysis, and data-driven decision-making. After earning concurrent Master's degrees from Duke University, Nick pursued investment banking at Marathon Capital, working on both renewable and traditional energy transactions, preparing sell-side and buy-side mandate materials, managing processes, conducting due diligence, supporting legal negotiations, and closings. Before investment banking, his role at ARPA-E, a special agency within the U.S. Department of Energy, focused on developing a techno-economic analysis of adoption pathways for emerging energy technologies (long-duration energy storage and carbon capture, utilization, and sequestration) by various electric power utilities across the United States. In his earlier career, Nick spent 6 years in the real estate finance industry in various roles (Sales, Client Relations, Business Development, and Business Operations).
