About Nick Wapachee

I’m a peacebuilder. In the corporate world, that means fewer emails marked “urgent” and more real connections. I focus on building bridges, encouraging collaboration, and removing barriers. As the Coordinator of Community Engagement at the Cree School Board, I draw on over 15 years of experience in community radio and external communications to share the CSB’s vision, values, and programs with the public and our partners. I use my writing and podcasting skills to create engaging content in both English and Cree, reaching people across Eeyou Istchee and beyond. I’m passionate about preserving and revitalizing the Cree language and culture. I’ve been recognized as an Indigenous Language Leader by the Government of Canada and as an Emerging Indigenous Reporter by Journalists for Human Rights. I enjoy meeting people, learning new things, and strengthening my communication and leadership skills. Most importantly, I do this for the children. I want to help raise a generation proud of their language and culture, ready to shape a better future for our communities and the world.
