About Nickolas Rush

2001 Grad of Indiana State with B.S. in Recreation and Sport Management, minor in Business Administration. My first job was with the Indiana Department of Corrections, specifically at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, IN. I held positions of Recreation Leader and Counselor. In 2005 I took a position with the Division of Family Resources (DFR), commonly referred to as the Food Stamp and Medicaid Office, or Welfare Office. The purpose of this agency is to serve those who are less fortunate or fell on hard times, with benefits that help them with daily living, nutritional and medical needs. The ultimate goal for our customers is to help them become self-sufficient so that they no longer need assistance. I spent approximately five years as an Eligibility worker before taking a supervisor position in 2010. As a supervisor I floated between different offices in the region, covering for other supervisors when they are on vacation, cover vacant management positions and train new managers. I also had the opportunity to work on special projects with upper management. The DFR is divided into regions. The region I worked in has 7 offices and I have been fortunate enough to work in each one. January 2019 I began a new, but similar career. I am now a manager with BMT Benefit Eligibility Management, a Division of Christian Brothers Services. I oversee the day-to-day operations of our Terre Haute office and supervise nine benefit eligibility consultants. I also supervise two additional staff in our Illinois office. Our consultants help apply for and maintain benefits for religious orders. Social security, Medicaid, and Low Income Subsidy are just some of the programs we work with on a daily basis. Our services help save these orders thousands, and sometimes millions of dollars annually which allow them to continue their work. My wife, Miranda, and I were married in 2001. We have two children, Allie and Nick Jr. Allie lives in Mississippi and recently promoted to Assistant Store Manager at the local Starbucks. Nick Jr. graduated from Manchester University in May 2020. He was a member of the baseball team, and multiple organizations on campus. He will complete his Master's Degree from Indiana State May 2022. He is currently working at Rose Hulman for his assistantship.
