About Nicky Bierman

I am a currently a full time business owner at NOLA School of Music in New Orleans. I am living out my dreams everyday by doing nothing but music, and I have no intentions of changing that for the rest of my life. I hopped around serving tables and working other odd jobs until my wife Katie offered me a substitute music teacher gig, and it was my lightbulb moment. I realized that was what I wanted to do the rest of my life after I finished that substitute music teacher shift. The earnings potential was more than double that of any other job I ever had and the fulfillment was ten fold more because music is my greatest passion in life. I then applied to every music school in the Birmingham, Alabama area while finishing up my undergraduate in Music Composition from Birmingham-Southern College. I worked as a music teacher for multiple schools in Birmingham until I was able to go full time teaching my own clientele out of my house. After finishing my undergrad, Katie was itching for a change because she had been in Alabama her entire life. After months of debating possible future moves for us, we ultimately decided that since I was raised in Baton Rouge and I had a lot of family in New Orleans, and because New Orleans is such a musician friendly city, moving to New Orleans to start a legitimate music school was the right answer for us. Luckily we had another great college friend Wes Chambers who decided to take the leap of faith with us, and after a demanding 5 years of working harder than any of us have ever worked in our lives, the three of us built our company from having nothing to now having over 425 active students, more than 20 members of our staff, and so many amazing memories that we will cherish for a lifetime. I can’t overstate how incredible the decision to move New Orleans has been for my little rag tag team of believers and for me, and I will be forever grateful to this city for the life it has afforded me. In conclusion, I am a very fortunate and privileged man, but I hope I will continue to earn the good graces of my fellow New Orleanians by maintaining my focus and dedication to offering fun and effective education to all those who share my passion for music.
