About Nicky Vanderwerff

I’m a dedicated and compassionate care coordinator with a strong focus on social services, equity, and access. In my role at Delta Dental of South Dakota, I work closely with Medicaid recipients who face barriers to dental care, helping them navigate resources, understand their benefits, and stay connected to consistent, preventive services. My work sits at the intersection of public health and social work, but it's ultimately about people. I build trust with families and providers across South Dakota to close gaps in care, reduce missed appointments, and make sure no one is left behind in a system that can often feel overwhelming. Whether I’m supporting a patient at risk of losing their dental home or collaborating with clinics to improve Medicaid engagement, my goal is to ensure everyone has access to the care and dignity they deserve. I'm also proud to serve on the board of the Falls Park Farmers Market, where I help promote community connection, local food access, and opportunities for nonprofits to share their work with the public. Driven by empathy and rooted in practical solutions, I believe in the power of showing up, following through, and creating systems that serve people better.
