About Nico Schmidt

My name is Nico Schmidt and I have recently obtained my Master's degree in Molecular Medicine at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg. I completed my Bachelor's degree in Molecular Medicine at the same university in 2021. My focus is on epigenetics, cell biology and oncology. I have experience in working with various mammalian cell lines, herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1) and diverse methods, including western blotting, FACS, plaque assay, active caspase 3 assay, siRNA transfection, MTT assay, migration assay, qRT-PCR, and immunofluorescence.During my master thesis in Prof. Schüle's group at the University Medical Center Freiburg, my project aimed to investigate a functional interaction of KMT9 and PAD in prostate cancer. I worked with different cancer cell lines, inhibitors and antibodies to analyze the functional interaction between these proteins. I am motivated to gain new insights into the molecular mechanisms of cancer and to contribute to the development of new therapeutic approaches. I am a team-oriented, reliable and eager-to-learn researcher who enjoys collaborating with other scientists and continuously educating myself.
