Background
About Nico Surantha
I’m a researcher, a lecturer, and an engineer. I have more than 10 years of experience in research and teaching in computer science, electrical, and communication engineering. I have written and delivered my research to more than 95 leading international journals and conferences. Some of my research works have been presented and published at some flagship conferences on communication and electronics, such as VTC-Spring/Fall, PIMRC, ISCAS, COMPSAC, etc. I’m currently working as a lecturer at the Department of Electrical, Electronics, and Communication Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Tokyo City University, Japan. At this university, I’m teaching at the Global Innovator Honors Program, where students can learn Electrical Engineering subjects in English. I’m also leading a research lab named Ubiquitous Intelligent System Lab where we perform research in the field of ubiquitous computing, artificial intelligence, and internet-ot-things (IoT). Previously, I worked in industry and university. Since 2012, I have been working for Radrix, Co. Ltd, the venture company that provides various engineering solutions, including system design and development in signal processing and wireless communication field. I have been involved in the development of a system-on-chip (SoC) for wireless LAN applications. My responsibility includes managing the project that includes collaboration with other companies/organizations in Japan and abroad, and handling the SoC verification. Then, from 2016-2021 I worked in Bina Nusantara University. I started as a lecturer specialist in master of computer science program in 2016. During this time, I got involved in creating some lecture modules, such as network governance, IT project management, mobile technology and cloud computing. I also managed to obtain some research grants from the Ministry of Education and Culture, Indonesia. From 2019, I started as a technology transfer and commercialization manager. During this time, I envisioned how the faculty member could carry their research into commercialization. I managed to create an integrated IP application registration application, increased the number of IP applications of BINUS University significantly, organized the International Conference ICOBAR which was published by IOP (Scopus Indexed), and managed two university journals into Scopus Indexed journals. I speak three languages, i.e. Indonesia (native), English, and Japanese (professional level proficiency). I have been working in a multicultural environment for many years.
