Background

About Nico Taber

I’m a senior at Duke University pursuing a BSE in Biomedical Engineering and a BA in Chemistry. My interests span tissue engineering, bioinformatics, and medical device design, with experience across both experimental and computational research environments. I’ve contributed to projects investigating ferroptosis and ECM stiffness in the Gerecht Lab, microbial sequencing analysis in the Fodor Lab through the Precision Microbiome Engineering REU, and protein expression in extremophiles with the DasSarma Lab at UMD. I’ve also worked on engineering design teams focused on wearable microbial air collectors and motion-sensing devices for physical therapy. Outside the lab, I serve as a teaching assistant for coding and ECE courses, co-founded a nonprofit initiative, and stay active in service and design communities through Duke Remote Area Medical and MEDesign. I’m currently seeking opportunities in biomedical research and product development.
