About Nicola Flanagan

As an educational leader with over 20 years of experience in leading the effective leveraging of technology to support and extend learning, I am passionate about designing experiences that empower students to make an impact on the world. I am happiest when supporting educators to identify and design creative and connected opportunities related to curriculum, technology and authentic inquiry. My leadership experience lies in the realm of digital innovation, the strategic and innovative implementation of inquiry led learning and to the roll-out of the Digital Technologies Curriculum. This is a story which I have also documented within the Leadership Section of the federally funded Digital Technologies Hub as a model to support schools and leaders nation-wide. See: As an Apple Professional Learning Specialist, I have supported networks of teachers and leaders within Brisbane Catholic Education to implement the use of iPad in pedagogically sound ways using a hybrid approach to teacher learning and have facilitated leadership workshops for teams wising to implement strategy within an ecosystem of good learning. I have also worked with a leading provider of quality care and education services for early learners and provided support (both online and face-to-face) to a range of Primary and Secondary schools within Queensland. My current role is supporting the state-wide implementation of initiatives and resources to support capability and confidence building in teachers in digital teaching and learning. I am proud of the work of my team and look forward to working with teachers across the state to celebrate their work, to provide clarity on what effective practice looks like and to inspire and connect.
