About Nicola Lang
I'm passionate about sustainability and the natural environment. After training as a geologist, my interest in climate change took me into a MSc and a palaeoclimate research post at the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge, followed by a post at the stable isotope laboratory at GNS Science in Wellington, NZ. My interest in eco-building has led me down a second career path, specialising in community-led development and sustainable building, with a particular passion for natural building materials and low embodied carbon construction. From 2013-2021 I project managed Transition Homes CLT's Clay Park scheme, a community-led project to build 39 affordable, energy efficient homes. In 2021 my partner and I moved into our own, self built, straw bale home, near Totnes.
