About Nicolas Brooke

Nicolas Brooke was called to the Bar in Paris, in 2004 and started his career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer where he specialized in international arbitration and international commercial litigation. In 2010, he joined banking giant Société Générale, where he was appointed General Counsel for Litigation, Investigations and Regulatory Affairs. At SG, he played a key role in the most significant contentious/compliance remediation matters the bank was ever faced with, including the Libor/EURIBOR and Sanctions investigations, the Kerviel rogue trading case, and the Libya-related FCPA case. In 2021, Nicolas joined Credit Agricole CIB, where he lead the global compliance team in charge of ethics. His remit included ABC, investigations, ESG, data protection, and culture & conduct. Nicolas now works at Covea, the leading French insurance group. As Deputy Group GC, he co-leads a team of 60 lawyers, and is responsible in particular for the following areas : Insurance/reinsurance, M&A and competition law, IT contracts, litigation and compliance advisory. Nicolas Brooke lives in Paris, with his wife and two children. His personal pursuits include skiing, and comparing England and France.
