About Nicolas Meier

Nicolas is striving to become a solar energy expert and impact the global energy transistion. In his master’s degree programme "Natural Resources Management and Ecological Engineering", he focused on courses in sustainable development with reference to renewable energies, especially solar energy. In his master’s thesis, he assessed the photovoltaic potential for the Pacific Island nation of the Kingdom of Tonga. Through his work experience in various countries, Nicolas gained useful cross-cultural communication skills and practice in approaching and cooperating with private and public sector actors in an international environment. He was also able to gain practical experience on renewable energy development during several internships and work activities, both on an economic and technical level. At the solar energy company Swimsol, he assisted the sales team and contributed to the financial modelling of PV plants for customer proposals as a working student. He was further involved in two large solar PV rooftop installations in the Maldives as part of an international team. Nicolas motivation to encourage the development of photovoltaics comes from the heart. He is a hardworking person who enjoys new challenges and is interested in developing knowledge and skills in the area of energy transition. His goal is to become a solar energy expert and to be involved in shaping the future path of solar energy as a project manager in this field. Currently, Nicolas is working in the solar team of "Gesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit"(GIZ) in Delhi, India. From there, he continues to develop his skills in the energy sector as a Junior Advisor in the external structure of GIZ to support the energy transition in India. The country with the third-highest energy demand in the world.
