About Nicolas Pinzon

Hi! I'm Nico! I am an aspiring physician finishing my undergraduate studies at Davidson College. I have recently committed to attend the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai through the Donald and Vera Blinken FlexMed program following my graduation from Davidson. I am passionate about fighting against our most profoundly impacting and uncured diseases, as well as advocating for those who form part of underrepresented populations, and have struggled to access resources to live in dignity and fight for their dreams. I am fascinated by the human brain organ and, more recently, by the complex gene expression, interaction, and regulation processes. Because of this, I am pursuing an interdisciplinary major in Genomics and a minor in Neuroscience at Davidson. In academia, I want to continue performing neuroscientific research utilizing genomic tools, uniquely contributing to my mentors’ work, and publishing works on said contributions. Outside of the classroom, I want to continue aiding those most vulnerable groups in my surrounding community while gathering as much patient interaction experience as I can. I hope to continue building a wide array of methods through which I can connect with any person and have a positive impact on their lives. Away from my professional interests, I find enjoyment in simple things and moments. I play a lot of tennis, solve Rubik's cubes, perform card magic tricks, and spend time with my friends.
