About Nicolas Sene

I have always been interested in nature. At a very young age I've started asking "Why?". Trying to understand the world I was entering was a natural and obvious process. Therefore I headed toward sciences. Today, our world is made by humans, metaphorically and litterally, but how to understand this human world if we don't understand what cradles it? I am currently doing a PhD in synthetic biology at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières after my second master degree in Synthetic Biology at Imperial College of London. I have studied and obtained my first master degree at the Universite Pierre et Marie Curie in Paris where I studied genetics and molecular biology, but particularly where I've learned how to think, work, and learn. I had the luck to work on different organisms during internships such as Paramecium tetraurelia and its 800n genome at Ecole Normale Supérieure de Paris, Bacillus subtilis to get the technical knowlege to use CRISPR-Cas9 and CRISPR-dCas9 at the INRA of Jouy-en-Josas, Hela cells and endogenous tagging at the Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale of Lausanne, and now the wonder algae Phaeodactylum tricornutum at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières. I am curious, caring, passionate man that loves to propose ideas, create and improve. This need for creation made me compose a little in the piano, write short novels and (starting) novels for over ten years, and be a force of suggestions at every place I've worked. I have been fencing for 16 years, loved learning Jiu Jitsu and self-defense. I discovered the joys of badminton since I'm in Québec, and love to learn and observe the stars.
