About Nicole Capewell

I am currently employed as a Development Planner with M’akola Development Services. Most recently I was a Community Planner with the Government of New Brunswick, where I assisted with policy research, development and implementation. I also have experience as a Planner II with the City of Penticton for over 5 years, where I worked on development applications ranging in complexity, from single family dwellings to large scale apartments buildings, and also completed policy work such a bylaw rewrites and amendments. I enjoy public engagement and finding new and creative ways to generate discussion, education and involvement around planning issues. I have a passion for protecting the environment, agricultural land management and creating a better understanding of the planning profession among professionals and the general public. In May 2016, I received my Bachelor of Planning from UNBC with a major in Natural Resources Planning and a minor in Geographic Information Systems (GIS). In May 2019, I furthered my planning education by completing a certificate in Urban Design. I have held volunteer positions with the Canadian Institute of Planners and more recently was a member of the Awards and Recognition Committee for the Planning Institute of BC.
