About Nicole Pitts

I'm a physical therapist assistant turned UX/UI designer. With my diverse background in healthcare and fitness, I bring a unique perspective to the design world. As a licensed PTA in California and Michigan, I've spent the last four years providing rehab services in outpatient, home health, and skilled nursing facilities. I've honed my skills in patient care, communication, and problem-solving, which I believe will translate seamlessly into my new career as a UX/UI designer. In addition to my PTA experience, I also run a fitness business, NicB.Fit, LLC, where I've had the opportunity to develop my marketing and branding skills. I'm passionate about creating user-centered solutions and conducting research to ensure that my designs are accessible to everyone. I believe that diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility in tech are essential, and I'm committed to furthering these values in my work. Here are a few of my transferable skills from the counseling field- Strong communication skills: As a PTA, I've had to communicate effectively with patients, their families, and other healthcare professionals. I understand the importance of clear communication and active listening, which are crucial skills in UX/UI design- Problem-solving: In my work as a PTA, I've encountered countless obstacles and challenges. I've learned how to think creatively and find innovative solutions to problems, which is a valuable skill in the design world- Attention to detail: As a healthcare professional, attention to detail is critical. I've developed a keen eye for detail, which I believe will serve me well in my work as a UX/UI designer- Empathy: Above all, I approach my work with empathy and compassion. I understand the importance of putting the user first and creating designs that meet their needs.
