About Nicole Ricapito

Scientific summary: I am a creative scientist with a technical focus in polymer chemistry and materials science. My research revolves around two main areas: high-performance sustainable products and innovative materials for defense applications. With a strong adaptability to new fields, I’ve held leadership roles in projects related to sensors, composites, adhesives, hydrogels, metal-organic frameworks, tissue engineering scaffolds, self-healing elastomers, and more. The ability to rapidly apply my skills across diverse fields has led to 4 provisional patent applications, 7 peer reviewed publications, and the attainment of $360k in SBIR funding. Project management and collaboration: I find that science thrives with effective collaboration. Through successful management of 7 academic partnerships, 2 small companies, and several consultants, I ensured completion of approximately $2.3M worth of tasks and milestones associated with various government contracts. I am continuously seeking out strategic partners to advance novel technologies and communicating with potential customers to drive research directions.
