Background
About Nicole Townsend
As a Lecturer in History at UNSW Canberra, I teach at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including courses on Contemporary Warfare, Australian Military History, and Conflict in the Asia-Pacific. Although a historian by trade, my research sits at the intersection of history, international studies, and current defence and foreign policy discourse. My key areas of research generally centre on Australian military history, with a particular focus on Australia's involvement in the Middle East, strategically, economically, and diplomatically. I have particular expertise in the Second World War, the Iraq War, and the Afghanistan War, having worked on the Official Histories of Australian Operations in East Timor, Iraq and Afghanistan.
