About Nicole van Zutphen

Hi! I'm Nicole, a science communicator as well as a documentary photographer and filmmaker. I studied Creative Industries with a specialty in film at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson), where I was inspired by the power that visual storytelling holds to educate, inform, and challenge antiquated narratives. I began my career at an NGO in the Peruvian Amazon, concentrating on the biodiversity of the Manu Biosphere Reserve and sustainable development of its communities. After returning to Toronto I continued my focus in wildlife conservation, but shifted to urban landscapes as the Multimedia Coordinator for the Toronto Wildlife Centre - Canada’s largest wildlife centre and a leader in the field of wildlife rehabilitation. Now calling Vancouver home, I'm the Communications Manager at Raincoast Conservation Foundation, working to safeguard the land, waters, and wildlife of coastal BC, fully committed to conservation efforts through my documentary film work.
