About Nigel Barlow

Having been working on the draft of a book -going under the working title of "takeaways, tanning and Tesco" based on journey's past, present and future across the Greater Manchester area which is planned for publication in the summer of 2014' My current project is the launch of a new bi monthly magazine centred on Manchester. Entitled "About Manchester" which will be dedicated to showcasing the Manchester area’s vibrant past, its present and looking to its future. My recent history is that I graduated from the University of Central Lancashire as a mature student with a degree in journalism in the summer of 2009. Prior to my degree I have worked in the corporate world since 1986 involved in business finance, management accounting, strategy and planning. After graduating I worked for Manchester Knowledge capital setting up their social networking profile. In April 2010,I launched along with fellow journalist Louise Bolotin,Inside the M60,a independent local news site for Manchester. The site came to an end in 2011 but I am still open to ways of relaunching it once my current project is out of the way, although it will be more magazine in format rather than breaking news Specialties: online journalism, social media, social media and corporate, freelance journalism, and journalism business models
