NIGEL D. BIRCH JR. Nigel Birch is a Poet, Author, Creativepreneur and Mental Health Advocate who is dedicated to helping people find their way back to love."To love is to serve" Nigel has been able to blend his gift of writing and spoken word with his experience in the social service sector to transform lives and perspectives. Nigel’s extensive experience with therapeutic interventions, group facilitation and counselling techniques combined with his gift of performing, writing and depth in knowledge of the love experience, led to the inception of Everyday is Valentine’s Day (EDXVD) in 2020. EDXVD is a creative enterprise whose mission is to restore love through artistic expression with art and therapeutic modalities at the centre of its purpose. The marriage between art, love and mental health is the foundation of the EDXVD movement that utilizes different mediums of art to help people heal, grow and nurture the love with in order to give love without. An artist and trailblazer in his own right, Nigel has performed on stages locally and internationally. Known for his renowned poetry piece/video Black Woman that went viral (3 million views on Facebook) with further successful pieces that followed: Dear Mama, Lost Treasure, and Propose to Her Melanin. In June 2018, Nigel co-directed the stage play HSTW (He Said, She Said, They Said, We Said). Opening to rave reviews and sold out crowds, he brought the show back in December of 2018 for two nights at the Factory Theatre, selling out once again. In 2020, Nigel wrote and self published he first book of poetry titled, Memoirs of Mona and is set to release his second book of poetry in Fall 2023. In 2021, Nigel was the recipient of the Young, Gifted and Black Nina Simone Artist Excellence Award for Spoken Word Poetry and in In May 2023, Nigel curated SHE IS WOMAN, an Immersive Art Exhibition. Nigel continues to be a change maker, as he uses art as a vehicle too create and curate spaces for love, healing and wellness to thrive.
