Background

About Nigel Mojica

Settler born and raised on Coast Salish lands from Filipino and European ancestry. Counsellor, artist, facilitator, public speaker, and voice narrator with a background in systems change, the arts and culture, public engagement, front line mental health work, media and communications, and experiential education. Recent facilitation experience includes stakeholder engagement work with City of Vancouver's Creative City Strategy and UBC's Campus Vision 2050 initiative, co-hosting the RADIUS Fellowship program (2020-2022), co-designing and facilitating Adler University's Bridging the Gap workshop series, co-facilitating men's groups with Ciel Community Counselling and Manology Vancouver, and a suite of hip-hop based creative workshops with youth delivered in partnership with Vancouver Coastal Health, DIVERSEcity Community Resources Society, Insight Global Education, Mulgrave School, and others. In addition to studying counselling psychology at a graduate level, I have participated in trainings including the CoResolve Deep Democracy level 1 training, the IndigenEYEZ Creative Facilitation training, parts 1 and 2, the Gottman Institute's Gottman Method Couples Therapy level 1 training, Vancouver School of Narrative Therapy's 5-day Foundations training, and the Adler Centre's Adlerian Case Conceptualization training. Creatively, I am a hip-hop vocalist, radio host, writer, actor, and event MC. I love people and language, prioritize human connection in my work, and seek to invite new (un)learning opportunities in all areas of life. Favourite pastimes include making and listening to music, time with friends, and being in the water.
