About Nigel Obrien

A dedicated professional with over a decade of experience in engineering design, project coordination, and estimating within the construction industry. I hold diplomas and certifications from NAIT in Engineering Design and Drafting (2010), Project Management (2013), and Business Administration – Management (2019), and I’m currently completing my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration – Management, expected in 2025. I’m also fluent in both English and French, having graduated from a French immersion high school in 2007. My career has spanned technical drafting, project coordination, and estimating roles—giving me a well-rounded understanding of the full project lifecycle. As a draftsman, I developed detailed blueprints, modeled steel structures in 3D, and supported design teams with precision and accuracy. In project coordination, I’ve managed documentation, procurement, scheduling, RFIs, ITPs, change orders, and client communications, ensuring that projects stay on track and aligned with scope and expectations. As an estimator, I’ve built competitive proposals, analyzed RFQs, liaised with subcontractors, and presented bids to clients across diverse sectors. Currently, I’ve returned to project coordination in commercial construction and am working toward becoming a certified Project Manager. Outside of work, you’ll likely find me enjoying live music around Edmonton, supporting local sports teams - cheering on the Green & Gold and Copper & Blue - or in the workshop building and playing guitars—a longtime passion of mine.
