About Nik Torfs

With a Master's in Applied Informatics from KULeuven (2014) and a passion for technology, I’ve worked across diverse industries and tech stacks—ranging from Ada on Linux (RedHat) for an air traffic management organization to C#.NET and Angular in insurance, and Java, Node.js, and React in a startup environment with a fully event-driven architecture on AWS. I also manage the technology side of a digital signage business, working with PHP, Golang, Angular, and Kubernetes. Driven by Curiosity – I’m always asking questions and eager to understand how things work. This mindset fuels my ability to adapt, learn new technologies, and solve complex problems. Broad Technical Expertise – I’ve worked across the full stack and have hands-on experience with small-scale Kubernetes deployments and Linux server management. While I wouldn’t call myself an enterprise Kubernetes expert, I have a solid understanding of the technology from working with it in real-world projects. Strong Soft Skills – I thrive in team collaboration, high-level problem-solving, and making strategic trade-offs to find the best solutions. Endurance On & Off the Screen – In my free time, I experiment with 3D printing and manage a home lab to play around with different technologies. I also enjoy long-distance running and recently picked up cycling and swimming. I thrive in dynamic environments where I can tackle complex challenges, bridge technology with business needs, and contribute to meaningful projects. Let’s connect!
