About Niki B.
I am an Ontario Certified Teacher and current Master of Education student working to strengthen Indigenous Education. My qualitative research study, supported by the 2025 SSHRC CGS-M, is gaining the perspectives of Indigenous Education leaders on the current implementation of the 2019 FNMI curriculum and building actionable recommendations to bridge the gap between the current environment and what is needed for consistent positive pedagogical processes and outcomes. While in grad school, I am serving over 30 thousand Queen’s students as the Rector. Through the Board of Trustees, Senate, and a slew of committees, I convey students’ interests and experiences to the senior administration. I act as a key resource for students seeking support and chair the Agnes Benidickson Tricolour Award selection – the highest tribute that can be paid to a Queen’s student for distinguished service. I also hold a ceremonial role at convocation, being the third Officer of the University.
