About Niki Maskey

Niki is a broadly trained development expert with an academic background in Environmental studies and sustainability science. During her 4 years tenure at iDE, Niki has been responsible for the overall planning and implementation of DFID funded BRACED project in Nepal. Currently, she is responsible of GESI component in USAID funded FTFNIPM project. She has over 17 years of experience in planning, managing and implementation of diverse projects and programs in natural resource management, agriculture and water management, biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation and DRR while in different positions in INGOs in Nepal. She has a long experience of different donor funded programs and projects, such as DFID/ Ukaid, USAID, Ford Foundation, MacArthur Foundation, BMZ etc) while at iDE and also with previous organizations. She has strong knowledge in leading field researches on gender and climate change/DRR and co-authored four researches on; 1. Agrarian stress and climate change in the Eastern Gangetic plains; 2. Framework to Understand Gender and Structural Vulnerability to Climate Change in the Ganges Basin: Lessons from Bangladesh, India and Nepal; 3. Floodplain and river dependent livelihoods, land poverty and upstream hydropower development in the Koshi basin; and 4. Gender, agricultural investment and productivity in an era of out-migration: A case study from Nepal and Bihar. At IDE she has acquired profound experience and understanding of opportunities and constraints in promoting/ facilitating the commercialization of agriculture in the face of climate change and disasters. Working with different organizations in Nepal, she brings in diverse experiences of various sectors such as agriculture, forest, water and biodiversity conservation.
