About Nikki Laynes

I am currently leading the Finance department of a utility company with nationwide coverage in the Philippines, handling at least 50 people, while doing my 1-year GBSN DHL Fellowship program. I have experience in traditional businesses, aiming to transition into a modern technology industry, after completing MIT Innovation Leadership Bootcamp and MBA at Asian Institute of Management. I have diverse experience in cleaning up the financial statements on the operational and financial aspects, planning & forecasting, monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and government, tax, and audit compliance, creating presentations to stakeholders, and fund-raising / financing activities. I have over 10 years of experience managing teams of 2-20 people, and working with C-suite executives. I have received awards last year from global team competitions, and pursued continuous learning in Business and Finance with Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Registered Financial Planner (RFP), and Chartered Trust and Estate Planning (CTEP) certifications. In my most recent role, I have provided strategic direction on the operational and financial side, worked with the President, Chairman, and other members of the leadership team, and attended meetings with stakeholders including Presidents and COOs of our sister companies and our Japanese suppliers. I have met with BIR for tax concerns and audits, and monitored the accounting department for government compliance, and reviewed contracts for leases of new branches, new partnerships, and promotions with customers and suppliers. I also spearheaded initiatives to strengthen internal controls. From my role as Finance Manager - Group Planning & Consolidation reporting directly under the Group CFO, I prepared the consolidated group forecasts and board slideshow / deck presentations on a quarterly and annual basis. We also prepared a long term plan (LRP - 5 years) until the company reaches 100 years. I have also taken part in the Corporate bonds project (small team of 5 or 6 people), which gathered a triple A rating and over Php5 billion funds raised. I have also started with the presentation deck in preparation for the IPO. Hopefully, I will finish my MBA Capstone by January 31, 2022, and I am interested in a finance career with a hybrid setup after a month or so.
