About Nikki Thompson

I am passionate about adding value in the form of education and career development. I believe that no matter the situation, learning and growth is always achievable even if in the smallest of ways. I love helping people achieve their goals whether that be first time employment, higher education, or learning on the job. As Program Manager of the Mayor's Youth at Work Partnership I have the pleasure of actively engaging youth in their first employment opportunities and watching them grow into young adults. By training these youth in employment skills and helping to identify career and educational goals, we help these youth gain knowledge, skills, and abilities that they can successfully apply to future endeavors. I am able to rely on my years of previous work as a psychometrist to use data driven results to grow this new and exciting program. As a former business owner, I see the importance of investment in our youth to create strong economy for years to come and I see the benefits of life long education, growth, and commitment to community when we invest and give back. If you haven't guessed by now, I'm a dreamer with a "make it happen" attitude. I like big projects with opportunity for amazing results for all involved. I thrive on a lot of pressure and a little time to make big impacts. Working with teams of people from across varying departments to achieve a common goal is music to my ears. Building a strong team and surrounding myself with people that aren't ok with doing things just because "that's the way they have always been done," is increasingly important to me. Finding best practices and solutions to ever evolving issues often requires flexibility in thinking and being able to pivot on a moments notice. And humor, my word.does it ever require humor! When I'm not at work, you will most likely find me outside. Beach-you bet, Hunting-whenever I get the chance, Raising Chickens-meet Lettie, Pearl and Tweety! Give me anything related to outdoors in my downtime and I'll be just fine.
