About Nimi Vashi

I am a Scientist at Deep Origin. I have over 10 years of work experience in cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry, with a focus on understanding the mechanisms of infection and immunity in cancer. I have worked as a Research Scholar at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, where I investigated the role of STING trafficking and its non-canonical functions in cancer immunity and metastasis. I have also worked as a SERB National Postdoctoral Fellow at the National Institute of Immunology, where I characterized the signaling and sub-cellular compartmentalization during phagocytosis of pathogens. I have a PhD in Cell Biology and Infection Biology from the International Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology. I have multiple publications in prestigious journals, such as Trends in Biochemical Sciences, Journal of Biological Chemistry, and Molecular Microbiology. I have also received several honors and awards, such as the Rajeev Circle Fellowship, the MIT COVID19 Challenge Winner,etc. I am passionate about applying my scientific knowledge and skills to develop novel and effective approaches for disease prevention, detection, and treatment. I love mentoring students at all stages of their careers. I am also committed to collaborating with other researchers, clinicians, and stakeholders to advance the field of cancer biology and improve the outcomes and quality of life of cancer patients.
