About Nina Paddock

Worked as a part of the multi-disciplinary management team that provided case management services as well as program support for the staff, children and families of a large Head Start and Early Head Start program in Los Angeles County. Brought Cooking Matters, culinary and nutrition education programs to Los Angeles County, including overseeing the programs initial and continued funding through grant writing, expansion of the program from 6 courses annually to more than 24. Oversaw the food service operations of a large central kitchen including the funding and renovations of a new kitchen facility and professional development of food service staff. Developed menus and oversaw food service operations that produced over meals daily for preschool age children. Provided nutritional assessment and counseling for parents and children on topics such as overweight, obesity, anemia, diabetes, and picky eaters. Written for and received grants, funding and research proposals for improved programming on nutrition, physical activity and gardening to support better nutrition within low income communities. Developed and implemented trainings for large groups of adults on various health, nutrition, professional development and community needs My goal is to continue to work in my local community with the families to improve their health, nutrition, access to resources and overall well being.
