About Ninian Stuart

A community worker to trade, I’ve worked in the fields of farming, forestry, mental health, homelessness, social enterprise, rural development, events and education using advocacy, empowerment & community engagement skills. Achievements include: establishing Fife Employment Access Trust and Falkland Stewardship Trust; Co designing and Co-producing 6 Big Tent Festivals, and the first GO Falkland in 2023 (in collaboration with Groundswell regenerative agriculture festival); initiating and developing a range of partnerships such as Living Lomonds Landscape Partnership and Fife Rural Skills Partnership which delivered Fife’s Our Bright Future programme over 5 years. Today I’m focusing on the practice of land stewardship, food system change at a local and national scale; and collaborative leadership. Acting locally, thinking globally within Fife as a dynamic bio region. Finally I’m privileged to have inherited the historic and beautiful Falkland estate where we’re evolving plans towards a new form of ownership, stewardship and relationships with people and land that serve the common good - with amazing colleagues, community and partners. I love working with diverse partners towards challenging goals in the face of all that stands in the way of change.
