State Senator Niraj Antani is serving his first term in the Ohio Senate, having previously served 3 terms as a State Representative in the Ohio House of Representatives. First elected at age 23 in 2014, Senator Antani is the 1st Indian American State Senator in Ohio history and the youngest Indian & Hindu American state or federal elected official in the United States. He is the youngest Member of the Ohio Senate. He has served as the Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Health. In 2015, Senator Antani was named to Forbes Magazine’s list of the top 30 people under age 30 in the United States in law & policy. In the same year, the conservative media organization Newsmax named him the 2nd most influential Republican under age 30 in the United States. In Ohio, Senator Antani has been named legislator of the year by organizations for veterans, community colleges, individuals with Down’s syndrome, and NFIB. Among his proudest legislative accomplishments, he authored the state law giving college athletes their rights to their name, image, and likeness, commonly known as NIL.
