I am a senior haematologist & lead transplant physician at Waikato Hospital, Hamilton NZ. I am FRACP Haematology with current APC as specialist haematologist at medical council New Zealand, trained in stem cell transplant from Fred Hutch, Seattle & AIIMS New Delhi (CIBMTR center) with 11 years rich experience in stem cell transplant & malignant haematology in teaching tertiary centres with FACT eligibility for BMT physician/ program director.I have 8 years teaching experience at university level (Mumbai University & University of Auckland). Currently I continue my medical education & research activities through association with University of Auckland and Royal Australasian College of Physicians as senior lecturer & supervisor for basic and advanced Haematology trainees. I have multiple presentations & indexed publications. I am currently supervising various research projects. In addition, I am also Principal Investigator (PI) for number of multinational clinical trial e.g ENHANCE phase 3, AML MRC 18 trial, ABCR etc. and sub PI for Alpine, DREAMM8 clinical trials. I am certified PI-APIPC.I am reviewer for BMT sections for PubMed indexed journals like IMJ of RACP (Australia) and IJHBT (India). I am an active contributing member for national BMT SIG, BMT advisory committee for Auckland region and full member of ASTCT apart from fellow of Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) in haematology & Fellow of American College of Physicians. In Mumbai, I was working in busy teaching tertiary teaching hospitals for 8 years and have credit of setting up number of allogeneic stem cell transplant programs including most notable of first successful BMT in public (LTMGH) hospital in Mumbai in the state of Maharashtra. I subsequently had opportunity to lead transplant program for 3 years before I made move to NZ. We were apheresis centre for MUD collects for Mumbai & Maharashtra for India’s largest DATRI MUD registry & facilitated number of collects for various locations including NMDP. I have extensive experience of managing patients with leukaemia, myeloma, lymphoma and marrow failure syndromes in addition to transplant. At Waikato, I have done systematic building of post allogeneic transplant service with busy weekly clinic.Novel reduced toxicity preparative regimens, GVHD prognostic scores and targeted therapeutics with focus on pathways like CSF-1R, BAFF, BTK etc would be focus my research. Post-transplant complications like GVHD, graft dysfunction, relapse prevention, immunisation, and long-term issues are some of my areas of interest.
