About Nirvana Duca

I am currently acting as an assistant manager within the Assurance department at Deloitte Malta. I joined Deloitte in 2019 after achieving a Master Degree in Accountancy. I am a key resource within the ESG team, leading multiple high-impact engagements. I oversee comprehensive gap analyses on CSRD compliance, ensures EU taxonomy alignment, and conduct double materiality assessments. I serve a diverse range of clients across various sectors, including Life Sciences, Technology, Media & Telecom, Consumer Products, Hospitality, Payment Providers, and Construction. My collaborative nature is demonstrated through my active participation in cross-border initiatives, primarily collaborating on substantial proposals for CSRD compliance within the online gaming and fintech sectors. My leadership and expertise make me an invaluable asset to the ESG team and my clients. Over the years I worked on complex accounting engagements focusing on the implementation of IFRS 9, 15 and 16 for entities operating in various industries. I was also involved in the preparation of financial statement of entities within the gaming and insurance industries. I worked on various limited and reasonable assurance engagements as well as agreed-upon procedures for a local leading company within the oil and gas industry. I was involved on internal control assessment and gap analysis against best practice, including flowcharting of key controls and operating effectiveness testing. I was seconded twice to a local bank on two different projects. Once was involved in the user acceptance testing phase of the core banking transformation program within the finance department and then as a business analyst within the anti-financial crime transformation program. I also served as a senior in audit teams engaged on audit engagements of pharmaceutical and real estate companies. During 2022 and 2023, I was seconded to the Auditor General of New Zealand where I had the opportunity to work on audit engagement within the public sector. During my time in New Zealand I was involved on audits of city councils, district councils, council controlled entities and hospitals.
