About Nisreen Salama

Dr. Nisreen Salam is an Assistant Professor at Arab American University –Palestine in the nursing department since 2016. She finished her Ph.D. degree in philosophy of Nursing from Jordan university in December 2019. Her master's degree in Pediatrics and her bachelor's degree in Midwifery Her research interest is in Nursing and Midwifery, with a particular focus on Gestational Diabetes Mellitus and topics related to women’s health. Nisreen has academic experience of 14 years. Nisreen teaches several courses on Nursing, Midwifery, and Pediatrics, introduction to nursing, health promotion and health education, health assessment, fundamentals of nursing, ethics, developmental psychology, maternal and child health, pediatrics and neonate, family planning, and gynecological courses. Nisreen is a certified trainer from American Heart Association in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). She is hardworking and enthusiastic, willing to learn, and ready for every new challenge. She is excellent at teaching, learning, and researching. She has leadership skills, able to lead the academic planning process by initiating discussions and defining priorities, and working with people as a team. International partnerships provide opportunities to attract a more diverse student body and to promote greater mobility of staff and students. it helps break down intercultural barriers. Encourage openness, tolerance & mutual understanding. Provide an increased international perspective & understanding of global issues. And encourage international peace & goodwill Her Philosophy of Teaching Is to respect for the learner in the teacher-learner dyad, each element influences the success of the educational encounter. Engaging the learner is critical. One must start by gauging the needs of the learner, tailoring the approach to the learner and ensuring a safe learning environment Teachers who demonstrate curiosity and passion about a subject area motivate students to learn and so choose to co-teach with colleagues whose scholarship and expertise are complementary to mine. Her hobbies: are walking, sports, swimming, reading, and cooking.
