About Nitasha Akerman

I have a strong interest in international development, humanitarian aid, the Australian Defence Force, disaster/crisis/emergency response; prevention and management, security planning and management, international security, diplomacy, women's rights, gender-based violence, refugee rights, conflict prevention, conflict transformation, conflict resolution, peace building, peace keeping, Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and Indigenous rights. Currently I work as the Program Officer for Myanmar, Timor-Leste & Regional / Multi-Country Projects operating in the Philippines and Indonesia, where I work to support international development and humanitarian aid projects; whilst supporting the wider Asia team and programs department to achieve the strategic plan's goals. I have skills in fundraising, project administration, project coordination, report and proposal analysis, risk assessment and management, interpersonal and cross-cultural communication, database management, and Gender, Equity, Disability, and Social Inclusion (GEDSI). I am working to strengthen technical skills related to the prevention and management of gender-based violence, security planning and management. I wish to pursue a career in sustainable, ethical development, aid and security covering a range of themes and to contribute to the efforts of justice, peace, security, protection and development at all levels of society.
