My academic & professional track record share a common theme, despite divergent paths into Tech & Management, I would call this “Bridging the Gap” and it appears as a constant as I look across the regions, cultures, disciplines, and projects with which I have engaged. The focus of my latest career chapter has been to implement a service-centric culture towards IT delivery aligning transformation activities to business objectives. Experience in wide ranging and critical digital transformation projects has taught me a most fundamental principle - IT plays a pivotal role in how organizations efficiently adapt to rapid & disruptive change. The industry loses sight of this getting caught up in latest advances neglecting the business model. It has been my role during the course of my corporate career in the USA & Africa to bridge dysfunctional gaps: • Committing to strategy without validating the business models • Superficial customer development – vanity metrics • Systematic Underdelegation – inefficiently doing the right things • Poor Planning – efficiently doing the wrong things A CA Technologies study reports that of the 800 executives surveyed, 34% characterize their relationship with IT as combative, distrustful, or siloed. It has been my privilege and continuing challenge to rectify this typical situation whether it be as Project Manager, Pre-sales and Business Development Head, Solutions Architect or Service Delivery Manager. The pathway to synergies between Business and Technology is dependent on hybrid leaders such as myself, who have extensive exposure to the differing complexities. My philosophy as a strategist is to fully understand the enterprise & its extended environment, and I thrive on identifying innovative problems, navigating stakeholders towards simple solutions, and establishing strong synergies guided by the demands of the market [Customer]. As Peter Drucker notes,“1.The purpose of a business is to create a customer. 2.Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things”. In my many rewarding and challenging roles, I have been a catalyst and facilitator of magnifying efficiency, seeking new strategic direction, and embracing the challenges and complexities of the journey from ideation to business modelling to product delivery to sustainable and profitable operations. My “Bridging the Gap” project is currently to span the divide between my current situation in Botswana, leveraging US citizenship, to join a future facing, sophisticated enterprise which values the breadth and depth of my multi-faceted experience.
