About Nitya Gopalakrishnan

Nitya is a Managing Director and the Chief Operating Officer for the Separately Managed Accounts business at BlackRock. Nitya is responsible for driving business, technology and platform strategy for active SMA and Model distribution; leading a development team that focuses on scaling portfolio management using optimization techniques; and "run the business" activities. Prior to her current role, she was in a number of leadership roles in the BlackRock Platform Integration team focused on the firm's mergers with Barclays Global Investors (BGI) and MLIM. Nitya is passionate about building teams and solving problems at the intersection of people, process, and technology. Nitya also enjoys mentoring students about careers in finance and has been a guest speaker at the University of Maryland Smith School of Business. Nitya is an avid traveler and enjoys meeting new people and learning from diverse perspectives. She serves on the board of KG foundation(non-profit) to promote Indian classical arts in the tri-state area.
