About Nivas Desai

Worked at Biological Oceanography Division in National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, on microalgal isolation, mass culture and effect of various environmental parameters on biomass and lipid content of some microlagae so as to focus algal oil as 3rd generation biofuel. Also I have worked on different EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment) projects. My experiences over the past have led me on an initially random but always valuable path which I believe amounts to excellent preparation for research. I am eager to learn more about commercial utilization of microalgae. I knew that there are lots of things that have to be explored and still much more are need to be done in this field. My research would help to assess whether microlage will be utilized for human being through various ways. Working without daily supervision necessitates a passion that I know I have. I can tell you that research is right for me because I have fun doing it. I feel that my best strengths are my passion, creativity, and ability to work hard. These skills are what I believe will help me to become a successful researcher. I am determined to make the most of the education that I have received from my classes and life. My future goal is to be establishing a career in research as a marine biologist and educating people about science. The diversity of research interests and life experiences I have had, combined with my training in theory, provide me with a good start towards becoming a successful researcher/scientist.
