My career has spanned more than 30 years, across multiple companies and industries. Nearly every job I have had has had a nominal connection to customer service. I have worked in the following industries: fast food, retail, trucking, telecommunications. I have worked with customers over the phone, via email and snail mail, as well as face to face.Since moving to the UK in 2014, I have worked for a single company in various roles. I have been an online shopper, selecting groceries for customers based on their requests, making substitutions if and when appropriate. I have worked as a commercial colleague, which is mostly an administration position, wherein I answered calls and emails, both internally and externally. The job also entailed processing price and ticket changes as well as changing out advertising when necessary. My current position is a checkout assistant, where I assist customers by processing their purchases and accepting payment, both cash and non-cash. I also supervise the self-scan and smart shop areas where the customers do the work themselves, stepping in only when needed to make the customer's experience run more smoothly.Prior to coming to the UK, I have driven cross-country making long haul deliveries, however, I am not currently able to do this as I have no DL, due to uncontrolled sleep apnoea. I have spent numerous years doing call center work, mostly inbound, but also have done some outbound. During my time with AT & T, not only have I done 1st level call handling, but have worked as Customer Service Specialist and Customer Service Manager, providing 2nd and 3rd level call handling.Outside of my career, I enjoy working on/with computers. I have built computers from ground up, as well as maintaining them for family and friends. I have been working with computers in various formats since 1985, when I started working on mainframes, Commodore 64s, and TRS-80s. My current programming skills leave a lot to be desired, as I never made it past basic, but I'm willing to learn. I only have knowledge of HTML currently, but am taking a web development course to learn php
