About Noah Martinez

I'm interested in fostering genuine community engagement through policy, research and writing. I studied at Joliet Junior College for three years while working at restaurants to pay tuition, culminating in my AA. Shortly after transferring to University of Illinois Chicago to pursue a BA in Political Science and a Minor in Professional Writing, I took my first internship at New Chicago Consulting. At this political campaign consulting firm, I got a brief inside look at the internals of Chicago politics. The semester after, I began my research assistantship with Dr. Alexandra Filindra. In her research studying threats and violence against American state and local officials, I contributed in ways ranging from securing interviews to writing internal reports to conducting qualitative analysis. Shortly after entering my third semester of working on this important research project, I accepted an internship at Joliet Township. I was thrilled at the opportunity to do outreach to the community and gain yet another inside look at the functioning of government and politics. In September 2023, Policy vs Politics, a bi-partisan civic education non-profit, brought me on as a Content Analysis & Research Intern. In January 2024, I began as an intern for Jooe Moore Strategies, LLC, a government relations consulting firm.
