About Noah Wittenberg

I am a graduate from San Jose State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Studies with a concentration in Environmental Impact Assessment. I am a 7-year veteran of the U.S. Navy with 3 deployments to: Persian Gulf, Okinawa, Japan and Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. My time in the military provided me with incomparable experiences and has taught me to keep communication simple and concise, contributing to project and mission completion in an efficient and professional manner. Working in high stress environments were being able think on one’s feet is a skill that I have held even after my military service. I demonstrate exceptional organizational skills and time management and to take pride in the skills I bring to the team and the work I contribute. Simultaneously, I temper that pride with an open mind, flexible to correction. Challenges and change are developmental opportunities I enthusiastically welcome. I have found that this positive attitude opens the door to a more respectful approach to my colleagues and a skill I would love to bring to an organization with a passion for protecting our environment. My love and passion for the outdoors is what led me to pursue a degree in Environmental Studies and a career in Wildland Fire Fighting. During my time in school I have had practice and experience with environmental research, collecting field data, data analysis, writing and interpreting environmental impact reports, and writing reports that convey the environmental assessment and provide exhibits and photos which illustrate or clarify information presented in the body of the report. I have recently applied some of these skills and others to my professional work as a Veterans Fire Corps Crew Member with the Southwest Conservation Corps focusing on wildland fire mitigation, prevention, and suppression. Besides my educational background, I am an avid hiker, backpacker and surfer who is more than capable of taking on whatever physical demands are necessary. I know that a I am in a great position to make a significant contribution to the wildland fire fighting community.
