About Noel Holzner

In summer of 2020 my mother was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer. I grew up being the one my family relied and depended on. In high school I provided emotional support for my family and was able to balance a 3.9 GPA, extracurriculars, and a job. My mom is my rock and even before her diagnosis she in inspired me to pursue my dream in forensic science. She studied forensic analysis at Arizona State University and her impeccable work ethic and problem-solving skills lit a fire in me to be as strong as her. However, she was unable to finish her degree, so I want to not only finish what she started but achieve both of our dreams. At the University of North Texas, I am majoring in biology with a concentration in forensic science with aspirations of becoming a DNA analyst in a crime lab where I can put my extensive knowledge and skills in laboratory techniques to use. I also am working as an AVID tutor for McKinney ISD at my graduating high school to help students in any coursework and most importantly aid students in the college and scholarship application process. I am also a Terry Scholar which was awarded in 2022 for my academic excellence and great potential as a valuable investment for the future. As a Terry Scholar I participate in many service events for the Denton, Texas community and gain networking opportunities through various resources available at the foundation. One of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had at UNT is showing my Forensic Science program acceptance email to my mom and seeing how proud she is of me for making that step to getting closer and closer to my goals.
