About Nolan Berg

Nolan lives his commitment to justice and public safety through his professional experience as a police officer with the Saskatoon Police Service. Currently, Nolan is an Inspector within the Patrol Bureau where he oversees two operational Patrol platoons. Previously, he led the Headquarters Division where he oversaw 911/Communications, Detention, Court Preparation and other operations. His work there focused on analytics for enhancing emergency communications performance and leveraging interagency partnerships for improved management of persons in custody. Prior to that, he was a patrol Watch Commander after leading the Traffic Unit’s enforcement and investigations teams. In 2018, Nolan deployed on a twelve-month peacekeeping mission in Baghdad, Iraq. There, he contributed to training and professionalizing Iraqi police by leading a team of Canadian instructors within a multinational police task force. His specific instructional assignments focused on community policing and leadership training for senior Iraqi police officers. Previously, Nolan served in the Training Unit where he successfully delivered the initial SPS Conducted Energy Weapons program deployment and established a local online training portal with the Canadian Police Knowledge Network (CPKN). As a constable, Nolan accumulated expertise in collision reconstruction, investigating fatal and injurious motor vehicle crashes. Beyond expert testimony in court, he has delivered guest lectures on collision investigation at the SPS Community Police Academy, the University of Saskatchewan College of Law, and in Saskatoon high schools. Nolan’s additional senior police roles have included the Use of Force Review Committee and auditing SPS contact interview policy. His broader professional experience includes six years with the Saskatoon Police Association board and current trusteeships for two police pension plans on behalf of the Saskatoon Police Executive Officers Association. Nolan actively volunteers in the community as past chair of the Board of Directors for the Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder Network of Saskatchewan. The Network is a community-based provincial organization that provides services and support to individuals with FASD and their caregivers.
