About Nolan Murphy

I have led an accomplished academic career. I graduated from Minooka Community High School as one of the top twenty-five in my class of over six-hundred students. I was deemed an AP Scholar, earned a thirty-five of a possible thirty-six on the ACT standardized test, and was recognized by the International Lion's Club for my success. This altogether led to my being the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship at North Central College, which afforded me four years of fruitful study as an English Studies and Secondary Education major, though I opted to drop out of the Secondary Education program just one course before total completion for personal reasons. While here, I was routinely recognized in the Dean's List for academic excellence. My Secondary Education coursework saw me in high school practicum settings as an observer and teacher's assistant, where I utilized content development software to create and share English curricula. I also collaborated a lot with peers in this setting, in particular to present information. My English Studies coursework involved rigorous reading and writing. I have written a lot about a lot. I am comfortable in AP, MLA and Chicago Style. What intrigues me the most is literary analysis. While at North Central College I worked as a peer tutor, helping other students write more clearly and efficiently. I also worked as an editorial reader and web team leader at 30North Literary Magazine, where I became familiar with WordPress while collaborating with other team members to proofread, edit and publish such written materials as interview transcripts. I also got to read some awesome literature then interview the authors who wrote it, which was fascinating.I am now employed as a customer service representative for a freight forwarding company. Plenty of work attending to highly varied customer needs, with never an idle moment.
