About Nomonde Mpange

I am a recent graduate with a BSc in Life and Environmental Sciences from the University of Johannesburg. I majored in Physiology and Biochemistry. The course was challenging but very insightful, I got to understand life from the microscopic level to the environmental ecosystem at large. Through the intense weekly laboratory practicals, data collection and report writing, I was equipped with valuable interpretation and analytical skills. I am well aware of good laboratory practices (GLP). During my final year (2023) I had the honor to attend a program called Black Women in Science, where I made connections and networked with women in the STEM field. At BWIS, I attended expert-led workshops that include scientific writing, business & entrepreneurship, business for scientists. This opportunity provided valuable scientific and entrepreneurial skill. I remember being a part of a group where we had to come up with a sustainability project and we won the "most innovative" award. This opportunity helped polish my project management and presentation skills. In the same year, I was also a part of an entrepreneurial program at a biotechnology company known as Next BioSciences. I was able to witness the day-to-day proceedings of a biotechnology company, from the lab to the office. We were taught about different aspects of the business including marketing, procurement, production, logistics and so on. As one would imagine, I got to use my presentation and project management skills to come up with a product from scratch, compose a business plan ans present the idea to a panel of industry experts. Since then, I have been passion about sustainability of within the environment, social and governance (ESG) sphere. I aspire to be a professional in the ESG sphere and I am always looking for opportunities to grow my skills. With that being said, in 2023 I enrolled myself for a short course that has to do with teaching English as a foreign language. My love for teaching stems from tutoring high school pupils in my community. I have the established a non-profit organization called South African Angels Arts and Culture. I aspire to take the youth off the street and provide valuable practical skills to help them grow their future.
