About Nona Golan

I have recently completed my undergraduate at UCSC. I was humbled by working alongside Professors Anna Tsing and Andrew Mathews, and my colleagues and peers. The Feral Atlas Project brought me into the patchwork of the Anthropocene, which put me in dialogue with local Palestinian and Israeli ecologies and people within global themes of capital infrastructures and political networks. Through my leadership positions among the students of the Everett Program, I gained experience in facilitating international fieldwork with multicultural teams in non-hierarchical workspaces. Emotional intelligence vied equally with technological competance. On-the-ground efforts of communicating and matching technologies to our partner organizations' needs was challenging to develop interesting and holistic teams and deliverables. My work with Bhutan's Gyalpozhing College of IT and Costa Rica's Monte Verde Insitute has connected new-world and old-world traditions of local and migrant families, youth, students, and tourists with tools for communicating their needs and plugging into the community organizations and pedagogies online. My current interests focus on integrating technology and how systems of extraction and inequality reproduce the climate crisis. I'm eager to learn and participate.
