About Nora Hanasy

I am an assemblage artist inspired by everyday objects that have a history. The more rusted and damaged the better. Old toys, wood with peeling paint, I can utilise anything. I enjoy the challenge of merging objects to create new narratives. I have been collecting objects that evoked excitement from a very young age. As a child I moved around a lot including coming to Australia from Budapest, Hungary. Lots of houses but the only constant for the first 9 years of my life was my grandmothers house and I think it imprinted on me. Sneaking into this post war little house with a dirt floor was a magical place full of history and wonder. To my parents it represented the past, struggles and fear. My work evokes a sense of warmth, a walk down memory lane, nostalgia and childhood memories. To others it may be a little weird or strange but enjoyed nevertheless. I have had numerous group and solo exhibitions, finalist in many exhibitions/art competitions and my work is in both private and public collections.
