About Norman Bauer

It all started with a phone call from a friend. He knew I could repair computers but was curious if I could repair his iPhone 4. I wasn’t having much luck starting an Open Source Software consulting agency. No one wanted to hear about Linux, LibreOffice, or “the cloud”. But what they did want in droves was someone to fix that little thing in their pocket that almost everyone is running their lives and their business’ from. Since high school I have been into electronics repair and eventually computers, so after a long pause on the phone, I said I’d give it a try. The rest is history. One of my greatest strengths I believe is my intrinsic desire to take on the work that makes others have anxiety. I enjoy challenge and the reward that comes from doing something that only a handful of my peers can do. Whether it is Microsoldering an iPhone system board, troubleshooting a 25 year old computer, migrating data from legacy systems, replacing the CCFL bulb on a 7” custom HMI LCD display, repairing a CMM machine that ran on FreeDOS, fixing CB radios, or fixing a cuckoo clock (I said I would do it but they never brought it to me), I am not afraid to learn and do. I personally feel that life would be boring if I had to do the same thing day in and day out. My business Wye Oak Mobile Device Repair, is so much more than just mobile device repair. So much so that I should change the name to “Yup! I fix that too.” The can do attitude, honesty, and integrity has the would be competition doing business with me and becoming friends along the way.
