About Nova Jarvis

While I have worked as an I.T. Manager for the past twenty five years, my passion and drive is helping users overcome their system related issues. I get a real sense of personal and professional fulfillment when my colleagues know that they can call on and depend on my expertise and experience in order to resolve the technology related problems that interfere with their ability to perform their job effectively. My involvement in the retail industry has fashioned me into a very customer focused professional. The bottom line: “If the customer is not satisfied, they will look elsewhere for the products or services that they require”. I use this fact as a guideline and strive to ensure that the I.T. department is focused both on technology as well as the company’s profitability. For the past 15 years I have engineered and managed the technology infrastructure that enabled Party City Canada to grow from an initial footprint of three stores to now over thirty four stores spanning across the country. During my tenure at Party City, I have participated in numerous projects that have strengthened the company’s ability to succeed in the retail marketplace. A few of these achievements are as follows. • Project managed the procurement and implementation of the Inventory Management system hardware and software. • Implemented an EDI management system that resulted in a major time saving within the order processing and product receiving. • Implemented a BI reporting system that allows for greater visibility into the business process and financial reporting. • Engineered and implemented a VMWARE infrastructure that includes automated image replication to a DR recovery site. • Spearheaded the technology roll-out of 34 new store locations and 65 temporary Halloween stores. • Procurement and implementation of a BCM 400 digital telephone server as well as the implementation of VOIP services over the company corporate network.
